How long does DIY BTO painting take?

5 days is the planned DIY BTO painting timeline: Day 1 for cleaning, filling, sanding and masking, Day 2 for primer with 4–6 hours drying, Days 3–4 for the first coat, and Day 5 for the second coat and touch-ups. Professional BTO packages start from S,988.

Materials Checklist

  • Paint (calculate coverage needed)
  • Primer
  • Rollers and roller covers
  • Paint brushes (2" and 3" angled)
  • Paint tray
  • Painter's tape
  • Drop cloths
  • Sandpaper (120, 220 grit)
  • Spackling compound
  • Ladder or step stool

Day 1: Preparation

  • Clean all walls
  • Fill holes and cracks
  • Sand rough spots
  • Tape edges and trim
  • Lay drop cloths

Day 2: Primer

  • Apply primer to all surfaces
  • Allow 4-6 hours to dry
  • Inspect for missed spots

Day 3-4: First Coat

  • Cut in edges with brush
  • Roll walls in W pattern
  • Allow full drying (6+ hours)

Day 5: Second Coat

  • Apply second coat
  • Remove tape while wet
