Art Deco Soft / Airy Wellness Painting Theme

Art Deco Soft pairs Gush Pillowtalk (WH006A) on the main walls with a Raffles Velvet Burg limewash feature wall — a cool, high-contrast jewel tone scheme that feels glamorous, geometric. It suits the dining room or lounge, and works with brass, velvet, dark marble. Its cool undertone stays crisp under 4000K–5000K light; very warm 2700K–3000K bulbs can make Velvet Burg look greyer. Art Deco emerged in France in the 1920s and took its name from the Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes held in Paris in 1925.

Design history

History and meaning

Art Deco emerged in France in the 1920s and took its name from the Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels Modernes held in Paris in 1925. It combined the machine-age geometry of the interwar years with luxurious craft — lacquer, brass, rare marbles and shagreen — and spread internationally through the work of designers such as Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann and Eileen Gray. The style peaked in the 1930s before giving way to Streamline Moderne, and its glamour, geometric patterning and jewel tones remain closely associated with the Jazz Age, giving living rooms a dramatic, opulent character.

What it represents: It represents glamorous, geometric character through a jewel tone palette and the recognisable visual language of Art Deco.

Why it works here: Here, the smooth Gush walls and softly textured Raffles limewash give brass, velvet, dark marble a coherent backdrop, making the theme practical for the home.

How it feels at home

Pillowtalk on the main walls keeps the Art Deco scheme lighter, airier and practical for dining / lounge. Velvet Burg as the Raffles R.LIMEWASH feature wall gives a subtle mineral layer that fits brass, velvet, dark marble. The cool cast helps reduce visual heat and keeps daylight feeling clear, while the limewashed focal wall adds calm depth without visual clutter.

Colours under different light

From warm evening to clear daylight

3000K · Warm white

Warmer and softer; creams, reds and timber undertones become more noticeable.

4000K · Neutral white

The most balanced view of the pairing, with warm and cool notes held evenly.

5000K · Daylight white

Cooler and clearer; blue, green and mineral-grey notes read more distinctly.

Soft or Rich

How Art Deco Soft differs from its twin

Art Deco Soft uses Gush Pillowtalk with Raffles Velvet Burg (high contrast, glamorous, geometric). Its Rich twin swaps to Gush Mindful with Raffles Burgundy Bazaar (high contrast, glamorous, geometric). Pick Soft for a lighter, more open room, smaller HDB spaces or rooms with limited daylight; pick Rich if you want the wall to anchor the room.
