Himalayan Retreat Soft / Airy Wellness Painting Theme

Himalayan Retreat Soft pairs Gush Aloe (GR008A) on the main walls with a Raffles Silver Sage limewash feature wall — a warm-neutral, high-contrast mountain natural scheme that feels cosy, robust. It suits the living room or bedroom, and works with oak, stone, wool, iron. Its warm-neutral undertone glows under 3000K warm white in the evening; under 5000K daylight bulbs it reads cleaner and less golden. Himalayan Retreat draws on the building traditions of the Himalayan foothills, where timber-and-stone houses, Buddhist monastic architecture and colonial-era hill stations shaped a distinctive regional vernacular.

Design history

History and meaning

Himalayan Retreat draws on the building traditions of the Himalayan foothills, where timber-and-stone houses, Buddhist monastic architecture and colonial-era hill stations shaped a distinctive regional vernacular. In Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the kath-kuni and timber-bonded construction methods used alternating layers of wood and stone, developed for seismic resistance and cold. British hill stations such as Shimla and Darjeeling added colonial bungalow forms from the nineteenth century. The theme favours oak, stone, wool and iron within a mountain-natural palette, so a living room reads as cosy and robust, where highland materials and craft define a warm, sheltering room.

What it represents: It represents cosy, robust character through a mountain natural palette and the recognisable visual language of Himalayan Retreat.

Why it works here: Here, the smooth Gush walls and softly textured Raffles limewash give oak, stone, wool, iron a coherent backdrop, making the theme practical for the home.

How it feels at home

Aloe on the main walls keeps the Himalayan Retreat scheme lighter, airier and practical for living / bedroom. Silver Sage as the Raffles R.LIMEWASH feature wall gives a subtle mineral layer that fits oak, stone, wool, iron. The warm undertone makes the room feel settled and welcoming, while the limewashed focal wall adds sun-baked texture without making the home feel heavy.

Colours under different light

From warm evening to clear daylight

3000K · Warm white

Warmer and softer; creams, reds and timber undertones become more noticeable.

4000K · Neutral white

The most balanced view of the pairing, with warm and cool notes held evenly.

5000K · Daylight white

Cooler and clearer; blue, green and mineral-grey notes read more distinctly.

Soft or Rich

How Himalayan Retreat Soft differs from its twin

Himalayan Retreat Soft uses Gush Aloe with Raffles Silver Sage (high contrast, cosy, robust). Its Rich twin swaps to Gush Malfoy with Raffles Olive Overturn (high contrast, cosy, robust). Pick Soft for a lighter, more open room, smaller HDB spaces or rooms with limited daylight; pick Rich if you want the wall to anchor the room.
