Khmer Temple Rich / Statement Wellness Painting Theme

Khmer Temple Rich pairs Gush Breadwinner (NE028B) on the main walls with a Raffles Burnt Amber limewash feature wall — a warm, medium-contrast desert earth scheme that feels sun-baked, relaxed. It suits the living room or entryway, and works with limestone, jute, pale timber. Its warm undertone glows under 3000K warm white in the evening; under 5000K daylight bulbs it reads cleaner and less golden. This theme draws on the architecture of the Khmer Empire, which from the ninth to the fifteenth century built the stone temple-cities of Angkor, including Angkor Wat under Suryavarman II in the early twelfth century.

Design history

History and meaning

This theme draws on the architecture of the Khmer Empire, which from the ninth to the fifteenth century built the stone temple-cities of Angkor, including Angkor Wat under Suryavarman II in the early twelfth century. Khmer building used sandstone and laterite, carved with religious relief, organised around axial plans, galleries and towers echoing Mount Meru. The aesthetic carries limestone, jute and pale timber into a sun-baked, desert-earth palette, so a living room reads as relaxed and monumental in spirit, drawing on the warm, weathered stone of the temple tradition rather than its religious ornament.

What it represents: It represents sun-baked, relaxed character through a desert earth palette and the recognisable visual language of Khmer Temple.

Why it works here: Here, the smooth Gush walls and softly textured Raffles limewash give limestone, jute, pale timber a coherent backdrop, making the theme practical for the home.

Colour wellness

How it feels at home

Breadwinner on the main walls keeps the Khmer Temple scheme richer, more anchored and practical for living room / entry. Burnt Amber as the Raffles R.LIMEWASH feature wall gives a subtle mineral layer that fits limestone, jute, pale timber. The warm undertone makes the room feel settled and welcoming, while the limewashed focal wall adds sun-baked texture without making the home feel heavy.
