HDB Bedroom & Living Room Paint Colours: What Works in Singapore Light

Three things to check before picking

1. Orientation. West-facing rooms get hot sun — warm whites turn yellow. North-facing stays cool — cool greys can look clinical.
2. Floor colour. Light tile floors bounce more colour onto walls than dark vinyl.
3. Furniture tone. Test against your existing sofa and largest wood pieces.

Best for HDB living rooms

• Warm off-white — Nippon "Antique White" or Dulux "Almost White".
• Soft greige — Nippon "Gray Mist" or BM "Edgecomb Gray".
• Muted sage — calming, works with rattan or linen furniture.
• Earthy clay — terracotta or muted ochre on a TV feature wall.

• Master bedroom — soft taupe, warm clay, or deep blue-grey.
• Kids' room — muted pastels age better than primary colours.
• Study / WFH — cool whites or soft sage to keep alertness.

Avoid

• Pure cool white in living rooms — looks clinical under tube lighting.
• Saturated yellow/orange — already amplified by warm Singapore light.
