Tea House Soft / Airy Wellness Painting Theme

Tea House Soft pairs Gush Sage Wand (GR016A) on the main walls with a Raffles Silver Sage limewash feature wall — a warm-neutral, high-contrast bamboo green scheme that feels balanced, botanical. It suits the living room or study, and works with bamboo, pale stone, paper. Its warm-neutral undertone glows under 3000K warm white in the evening; under 5000K daylight bulbs it reads cleaner and less golden. This theme draws on the Japanese chashitsu, the tea room refined around the tea ceremony in the sixteenth century by the tea master Sen no Rikyu.

Design history

History and meaning

This theme draws on the Japanese chashitsu, the tea room refined around the tea ceremony in the sixteenth century by the tea master Sen no Rikyu. Rikyu established the small, thatched, rustic tea house and the wabi aesthetic of humility, ritual and rustic simplicity, in deliberate contrast to the ostentation of the period. The aesthetic prizes bamboo, pale stone, paper and raw, unpretentious materials. In a contemporary room the theme keeps that disciplined natural palette within an open plan, so a living room reads as balanced and botanical, quiet and intentional rather than ornamental.

What it represents: It represents balanced, botanical character through a bamboo green palette and the recognisable visual language of Tea House.

Why it works here: Here, the smooth Gush walls and softly textured Raffles limewash give bamboo, pale stone, paper a coherent backdrop, making the theme practical for the home.

How it feels at home

Sage Wand on the main walls keeps the Tea House scheme lighter, airier and practical for living / study. Silver Sage as the Raffles R.LIMEWASH feature wall gives a subtle mineral layer that fits bamboo, pale stone, paper. The green-influenced balance supports a restorative, plant-friendly mood, while the limewashed focal wall adds breathable mineral softness behind daily routines.

Colours under different light

From warm evening to clear daylight

3000K · Warm white

Warmer and softer; creams, reds and timber undertones become more noticeable.

4000K · Neutral white

The most balanced view of the pairing, with warm and cool notes held evenly.

5000K · Daylight white

Cooler and clearer; blue, green and mineral-grey notes read more distinctly.

These are lighting representations, not exact paint samples. Room direction, daylight and furnishings affect the final result, so compare a physical sample at home before approval.

Soft or Rich

How Tea House Soft differs from its twin

Tea House Soft uses Gush Sage Wand with Raffles Silver Sage (high contrast, balanced, botanical). Its Rich twin swaps to Gush Malfoy with Raffles Olive Overturn (high contrast, balanced, botanical). Pick Soft for a lighter, more open room, smaller HDB spaces or rooms with limited daylight; pick Rich if you want the wall to anchor the room.
