Eggshell & Satin

Eggshell & Satin: Two Luxurious Sheens, One Zinsser System

The matte/gloss debate misses the interesting part of an interior. Pico X Health specifies only two sheen levels in habitable rooms — eggshell and satin — because they are the two finishes that read as designed rather than DIY under Singapore lighting.

The shortest version

Eggshell looks like soft velvet under daylight — almost no glare, forgiving of small wall imperfections. Satin looks like a quiet glow under warm light — more sheen, more wipeable, but demanding of a well-prepped substrate. We default to eggshell on most walls and reach for satin only when the room asks for it.

The eggshell room — our default

PXA warm putty Zinsser eggshell room in a Singapore residence — full living context, soft daylight
PXA warm putty eggshell wall close-up — arched lamp shadow, velvet sheen detail

Eggshell is the sheen we put on almost every wall in almost every Pico X Health Signature project: living, dining, bedrooms, hallways. Hides minor undulations from skim coat, doesn't bounce ceiling-light reflections back at you, photographs beautifully.

The satin room — when the brief asks for shine

Satin earns its place in a master bedroom feature wall, a study with directional task lighting, or a dressing area where you want the colour to feel a little richer. We add a skim-and-sand pass to any satin scope, and we will tell you up front when a wall isn't worth the upgrade.
